OUR PROGRAMS
The Kenya Union of the Blind promotes the social inclusion of persons with visual impairments through uniting and empowering them, as well as advocating for their rights. Our 3 key programs areas are:
- Education and Social Protection of Children: to promote the rights of children with visual impairments to quality education and social protection. For our Education and Social Protection of Children program, select this link.
- Technology and Youth Empowerment: to promote access to training, employment, technology and social opportunities by youth with visual impairments. For our Technology and Youth Empowerment Program, select this link.
- Membership Development: to promote self-reliance and social participation among adults with visual impairments. For our Membership Development Program, select this link.
Among each program area, our strategies include:
- Advocacy: for enactment of policies that promote inclusion and access to opportunities for persons with visual impairments.
- Empowerment of persons with visual impairments towards increased self-determination, self-reliance and self-advocacy.
- Collaboration with government, corporate and civil society organizations to promote the rights of, increase participation and representation within, and effectively deliver services to visually impaired persons throughout Kenya.
- Institutional development of our local level KUB branches to enhance their involvement in promoting access to opportunities and services.
