ABOUT US
The Kenya Union of the Blind (KUB) is the national organization of visually impaired persons in Kenya. Our goal is to seek and unite persons with visual impairment to:
- empower them
- raise their standards of living
- improve the societal image of blindness.
KUB is a non-governmental, non-political, membership-based organization. It was established in 1959 and registered in 1960 as a union under the Societies’ Ordinance Act. KUB collaborates with government, corporate and civil society organizations to promote the rights of, increase participation and representation within, and effectively deliver services to visually impaired persons throughout Kenya.

A barrier-free society in which persons with visual impairment enjoy full and equal participation.
Mission
To promote the social inclusion of persons with visual impairment through uniting and empowering them, as well as advocating for their rights.

Objectives
- Advocate for equal rights for persons with visual impairment
- Promote literacy and readership among persons with visual impairment
- Promote education, training, employment, trades, safe travel, recreation and general well-being of persons with visual impairment
- Seek cooperation, affiliation and effective representation in relevant local and international organizations
- Serve as an advisor on all matters pertaining to the welfare of persons with visual impairment
- Mobilize resources for the achievement of the Union’s objectives and interventions.
